Coffin-lid Casserole
This Tainan specialty is a type of
""bread bowl"". A slice of Texas toast is dipped in egg
batter and deep-fried until golden brown. Then top crust is sliced away and the
center is scooped out and filled with meat and/or seafood and vegetables in a
creamy sauce. Lastly, the crust, or ""coffin-lid,"" is
replaced and the dish is served.
シチュー入り揚げトースト
厚切りトーストをキツネ色に揚げて中をくり貫き箱状にし、鶏肉・エビ・イカ・野菜などのクリームシチューを詰め、パンをフタにした台南名物。その棺桶のような形状からこの名がついた。
